Some clients come in with a general concept — perhaps a theme, a feeling, or a few reference images — and trust the artist to bring it all together. This is a wonderful place to start. Other clients arrive with a very clear vision of what they want, down to the smallest details — and that’s absolutely okay too. Whether you’re open-ended or detail-oriented, the key to a successful consultation is clear communication.

For example, if you mention wanting a “pop of color” but you’re picturing green and your artist imagines orange, that’s a simple miscommunication that can be easily avoided with open dialogue. Being honest and specific about your preferences helps your artist fine-tune the design so it’s exactly what you envisioned.
